Xiang Yu, born in Lanzhou, Gansu province, majored in computer science and technology of Zhejiang University from 2006 to 2010. From 2008 to 2010, Yu also studied in the Cultural Chinese Talents program of Chu-ke-chen College of Zhejiang University (minor); 2010-2012 worked as deputy secretary of youth league committee in College of Computer Science and Technology, Zhejiang university; From 2012 to 2014, Yu was recommended to study for a master's degree in land resource management in the Department of Land Management, College of Public Management, Zhejiang University. Joined Zhejiang university in 2014,  he is currently the deputy director of the party office of the United Front Work Department of the party committee of Zhejiang university. From May 2019,he was  sent to the General Office of the Ministry of Education on secondment.

       Yu was awarded the national "12th Five-Year Plan" advanced individual for environmental science popularization, outstanding class teacher, excellent counselor, excellent moral education tutor, outstanding youth league cadre, advanced individual for service guarantee in G20 Hangzhou summit, "top-ten" association advisor and other honorary titles. He presided over a number of provincial-level and school-level projects, published many papers in core journals as the first author, and his research results form postgraduate period "identification of urban functional areas based on Beijing bus swipe card data and interest points" were published on the magazine of Urban Planning .
