On December 6th, 2023, I embarked on a scientific journey to the City University of Macao. I stayed two days there, but I learned a lot from it, as follows: Regarding the city, I noticed that Macau is a melting pot of cultures, combining Chinese, Portuguese, and Macanese heritage. The diverse fabric of its historical background is evident in various aspects of the thriving society, including language, food, rituals, and beliefs. Additionally, I viewed some of Macau's most luxurious hotels, resorts, and entertainment venues, providing an unforgettable experience for me. The city is also evident in the stunning architecture that adorns its streets, like The Ruins of St. Paul's Cathedral, commercial streets, and other historical places. In terms of our mates at Maco University, students are quiet, attentive, and conduct themselves appropriately in the conference room. They did not harass others or disturb classroom order, and they respected Professor Han significantly. Also, my Macao journey became memorable because of my Chinese friends. I talked with new friends for the first time and enjoyed a lovely relationship. They taught me to fight the odds, be successful, and generate a feel-good factor.
My trip to Macau was absolutely amazing! The weather there felt so much like Egypt, and exploring the old city with its narrow streets, small shops, and cool exhibitions brought back memories of home. It was like Macau was giving me a warm welcome.
What really struck me was how friendly everyone was. Even though I'm a foreigner, I never felt like a stranger. People's English was on point, making everything easy. I had this one incident where I lost my payment card for the bus, and this lovely lady stepped up without hesitation, offering help and wishing us a fantastic trip.
And let me talk about the city itself, it's mind-blowing! The contrast between the old town's charm and the modern city's crazy architecture left me speechless. Every time I thought I had seen it all, the next thing was even more amazing. And despite that I'm not usually big on taking pictures, but Macau turned me into a photographer. I couldn't resist snapping pics of everything.
This trip truly leveled up my travel experiences, and I'm so grateful to Professor Han for providing us with this opportunity !
